Hybrid shooting made easy with the Lumix S5IIX

Recently, I spent some time with an old friend I’ve made through years of doing automotive photoshoots. I wanted to see how I could manage offering video and photography services in one go, and I knew the Lumix S5IIX would be more than capable. I think it turned out pretty good for my first real attempt at putting together a video with the camera. Take a look:

What I found really amazing about the S5IIX was the IBIS. It was almost like shooting on a gimbal, even though it was all handheld. Additionally, I had a simple cage system built around the camera, equipped with a v-mount battery, side handle and monitor. These extra gadgets were added for functionality, and also to add a bit more weight in my hands – it’s a little easier to get more stable footage with a heavier setup.

I also like how easy it is to switch between photo and video mode. The camera responds almost instantly so I won’t miss a moment. I paired the body with a Sigma 24-70mm, a truly stellar lens. The camera (and lens) renders colours beautifully, the files are great to work with, and the images/videos are sharp. Here are some sample images:
